Lake Hillier, Australia
Lake Hillier is a pink colored lake on Middle Island in Western Australia. The lake is about 600 meters long. From above the lake appears pink. No-one knows the reason behind the pink color, however, scientists think that the color comes from a dye created by bacteria that live in salt crusts. The lake was first discovered by an explorer Matthew Flinders in 1802. Flinders saw this incredible lake when he climbed Middle Island’s Highest Peak Which is now known as Flinders Peak.
Lake Retba, Senegal
Lake Retba also called Lac Rose (which means Pink lake) lies on the north of the Cap Vert Peninsula of Senegal. The lake is approximately 30km northeast of the capital Dakar. Just like Lake Hillier Australia, Lac Retba or Lac Rose is also famous for its unusual pink color. Lake Retba is separated from the Atlantic ocean only by some narrow dunes and the water is very salty. Scientists believe the Pink color is caused by a bacteria named Dunaliella Salina. The bacteria produces a red pigment in order to absorb sunlight thus transforming the water color to Pink.

Horsetail Fall is a seasonal waterfall located in Yosemite National Park. Horsetail Fall flows in the winter and early spring. The setting sun illuminates the waterfall making it glow orange and red, hence looks like the waterfall is on fire. This Phenomenon is called Firefall. Horsetail Fall descends in two streams side by side, the eastern one drops 470 m and the western one drops 480m.
